GamingCon 2018!
Wow! What a great 1st con day! Once we started playing, shortly after we got done setting up, the game never stopped. We played 4 straight games in a row. We'd like to thank all of our players who participated. For those that didn't get to play, we will be back tomorrow! Come check us out, play a round, and earn some digital badges and a place on our website's leaderboard. We had 1 repeat player, Eric, who won both games to earn red and blue badges. I... lost, twice, as Dauntain... both the same way - failing to block against a Turret. When am I going to learn to count to 4? The second defeat was only 5 to 6 moves into the game!Major kudos to Eric who successfully pulled off the impossible-dropping his magic onto Sabra to decimate her entire army and survive Sabra's retaliatory strike long enough to retreat back to the safety of her army. Also, major kudos to Jeremy, who pulled off an impressive impression of Steven Segal as she slowly carved her way to Saeline's front line, killing everything in her path (including hunting) to get to Saeline's front door.I'll get badges assigned, video game highlights, and the website updated as soon as I can. First, some well earned sleep, then day 2, comin' up!
What an incredible 2nd day! Once again, thank you to Salt Lake GamingCon, Curtis Baum, and all of our players, fans, cosplayers (Marial Clark and HSAMAblog) and participants! You rock!
A very special thank you to Megan Osterloh for her extremely valuable contribution, help, and volunteer service. You are a sweetheart! I could not have done this without you. :)
We played a few games in the beginning of the day but the very big highlight was a 4.5 hour, 6 player game! Thankfully I didn't get utterly destroyed within the first 6 turns like at SaltCON. :) Once Sabra's player, William, realized his Hero's true, deadly potential, he abandoned his army to take her on a one-woman wrecking spree-carving a hole big enough for him to squeeze her through to Shyrosk's army. Full loaded on damage, she used her magic with the sole intent to take out Shyrosck's Shield. Sabra defended against a Pawn's attack and sliced the head off of the swamp dragon! It doesn't get any more epic than that. Hours later, with Nyrolate's purple army and Gilgoldea's purple army's both decimated, I encouraged both players to join forces and take on my grey Axis army, which was virtually untouched. And they did it! After getting both of their queens back they took advantage of Axis' inability to use magic and 50% fire block. The most incredible part of the ending, where Nyrolate (bravely played by Megan), the Phantom Captain - a mere ghost with no armor - successfully defended against the extreme armor master Gilgoldea (played by Robert) for 5 turns! Nyrolate was only 1 turn away from blasting Gilgoldea back to her iron smiths... when the dice failed her. Fantastic and epic, down to the last dice roll! It does get any better than that! Be sure to watch the video highlights, coming soon.
